# The pages your company runs on, in one place every AI reads.

A brain is your company's pages, in spaces shared with the people who may read them. You see and fix them in the cockpit; your AI reads them before it answers.

what to write down

## Write down what only one person knows, while they are here to check it.

The answer that lives in one head is the one your AI guesses at, and the one that leaves when that person does.

~/instibrain/spaces/acme what it keeps
- pricing/floors.md The number you never go under, and who approves less.
- deals/declined.md The deal you walked away from, and why.
- runbooks/deploy.md The order things come back, and the step everybody forgets.
- owners.md A name on each surface, so a question reaches a person.
- style/naming.md What a thing is called here, and the words nobody uses.
- postmortems/q3.md What broke, the cause, and the change that stopped it.
- clients/northwind.md What was promised in 2023, by whom, and whether it shipped.
- oncall/escalation.md Who to wake, at what threshold.

how it is organised

## A page sits in a folder, and the folder in a space.

Each folder says what it holds, so a person and an AI put a new page in the same place.

Space One set of people reads it; open, or sealed on their computers. who reads

Folder One kind of thing, with a page that says what it holds. where it goes

Page Plain markdown; in an open space, every version names its writer. what is known
a space is shared with a person a group Everyone an agent

your AI

## Your AI finds the page, reads it, and asks before it changes what it may not.

It searches with two or three words, reads a page or one section of it, and writes back where you let it, never above your role. A change it may not make waits as a proposal for an editor. Every tool is listed in its own words.

work in progress

## Each piece of work has a folder, a person, and an end.

An operation is a task with an end goal: its pages, who it is assigned to, and whether it is planned or running.

if we are gone

## What you keep if we disappear tomorrow.

Every page is a plain markdown file in a folder you can copy, and each sync can be a commit in your own git. The contract only grows: a breaking change ships beside the old one. Nothing we store opens a sealed page.

questions

## What people ask about a brain.

**What is AI memory?**

What an AI knows that the model does not: your company's pages, kept outside the model. A new model reads them on its first day.

**How is a brain different from an AI knowledge base?**

A knowledge base often indexes copies of your documents. A brain holds pages your people, their AIs, and agents write, each version naming its writer.

**Which AIs can read a brain?**

The ones run on our brain: Claude Code, on Mac, Windows, or Linux; Codex; and Claude, on the web or a phone. A sealed space opens only beside the sync client, on your computers.

**Who owns the pages?**

You do. We claim no ownership, and we never train a model on them.

**What happens to my pages if instibrain disappears?**

Each one stays on the computers you linked, as a markdown file any editor opens.

**Can it hold what we would never give a vendor?**

Yes, in a sealed space. It is encrypted on your computers, and we hold only ciphertext.

## Start with the page everyone asks you about.

Write it once in a space; every AI on the team reads it from then on.
