# Learn the basics, one screen at a time.

Two short tutorials for your first day with instibrain: Claude basics, then instibrain basics. A lesson is one idea, one picture, and one thing to try.

Start with Claude basics → instibrain basics

Written for someone who never used a terminal. Every word is explained where it first appears.

the two tutorials

## Read both before your first real work.

Claude basics first: it explains the AI that does the work. instibrain basics then shows what that AI reads, and where what you learn goes. Each links the other.

### Claude basics

Claude Code, the AI that works on your computer: what it is, what it sees, and what it may do.

- 1What Claude Code is Claude working on your computer: it reads files, writes files and runs commands.
- 2Context Everything Claude can see right now, its working memory for this session.
- 3Effort and models Which Claude does the work, and how long it thinks before it acts.
- 4Where you start Claude, and what it loads The folder you start in decides which instructions load.
- 5.md files and CLAUDE.md Plain text with a few marks: a document for people, instructions for Claude.
- 6Permissions What Claude may do without asking you first.
- 7Connectors How Claude reaches another app with your own account.

### instibrain basics

Your brain on your computer: spaces, specialists, tools, the button, the inbox, and where a lesson goes.

- 1Spaces and pages A page holds one thing; a space is pages shared with one set of people.
- 2Specialists One job, done by the AI you use: it knows the method and which pages to read first.
- 3Tools The way into an app outside instibrain, with your own account.
- 4The button and windows Start every session from the instibrain button; one window, one job.
- 5Inbox and proposals A note for later, and a change you ask for on a page you cannot edit.
- 6Where a lesson goes A chat ends; a page stays. Which page takes what you learned.

what you need

## A computer with instibrain on it, and this page beside it.

The installer puts the instibrain button on your desktop, and Claude Code asks you to sign in the first time it opens. Get started walks through both.

Keep this page on one side and Claude on the other, and type as you read. A lesson takes a few minutes, and your browser remembers where you stopped.

how a lesson works

## Every lesson has the same six parts.

Short sentences, plain words, and a new word explained where it first appears. Names such as the Content specialist or a Marketing space are examples, and the page says so.

The idea

One line. If you remember nothing else, remember this one.

New words

Each term the lesson uses, defined before it is used.

The lesson

A few short paragraphs, and a table where there is something to compare.

The picture

A drawing of the idea: a terminal, a window, or boxes and arrows.

Try it

What to type, word for word, in your own Claude window.
