# Connectors.

A connector lets Claude reach another app, like Notion or Google Drive, with your own account.

## new words

**Connector**
A link between Claude and one app. You sign in to it once.

**MCP**
Model Context Protocol, the open standard connectors use. An MCP server is another name for a connector.

## the lesson

The brain connector, `instibrain`, comes with instibrain's setup. You connect every other app yourself, with your own account. instibrain's tool pages say how, for each app they cover.

Some connectors come from claude.ai. You add them at claude.ai/customize/connectors. On a Team or Enterprise plan, only an admin adds them, and you sign in to each one. They then appear in Claude Code started in another folder. Claude Code started from the instibrain button leaves them out.

A connector acts as you. Claude sees only what your account sees. A message Claude sends in Slack goes out under your name, so ask Claude to show you the text first.

An example of what /mcp shows. Each connector signs in as you, so Claude sees only what your account sees.

## try it

Type this and press Enter:

```
/mcp
```

## you should see

- A list of your connectors, with a state beside each one. `instibrain` is in it.
- For one that needs you to sign in, choose it in the list and follow the steps in your browser. Esc closes the list.
