Your first session.
The first time, Claude asks who you are and writes it down. Every time after, it starts from your pages, says what waits, and waits for you.
new words
- Wake
- The start of a session: what Claude reads and says before your first word.
- Profile
user-profile.mdin your Personal space: who you are, your role, where you work from, how you want answers.- The builder
- instibrain's own staff member that sets a computer up from the brain. Claude works as it in your first session.
the lesson
Your first session is the one exception to a quiet start. Your profile has no name yet, so Claude says in one line what instibrain is and that this is your first session. It asks your name and role, where you work from, and how you want answers, and writes the answers to your profile. It names each space you read, one line each.
Then it sets your computer up as the builder, without being asked: it updates the sync client, checks each step the installer did, and connects the accounts your spaces' tool pages name, from what already works on the computer. It asks you to sign in only where nothing does. It ends with a report of what works and what is missing, which goes to your account's owners and admins. A profile with a name is no first session: nothing is asked again.
| Every session reads, in order | What it is |
|---|---|
The system's CLAUDE.md | instibrain's rules, the same for everyone |
MEMORY.md | The index of your Personal space: what exists, never what it says |
user-profile.md | Who you are and how you work |
rules/rules-digest.md | Every rule of yours in one line |
| A team space's management page | Where the space has one: your row says what your week delivers |
Nothing else: no rule in full, no page read ahead, and nothing of the Claude setup your other work left on the computer. A session of ~/instibrain runs in instibrain's own Claude configuration. Then Claude greets you, says how many items your inbox holds and which rooms have unread messages, and waits. Depth comes after the task is known, only for the pages that task needs.
try it
In a session that is not your first, type this and press Enter:
Which pages did you read before my first word, in order, and what did each one tell you?
you should see
- The system's rules, then your Personal space's index, your profile and your rules digest, then a team space's management page where there is one.
- Nothing from your other Claude setup, and no page read ahead of a task.
